A week-long sleep-away summer camp specifically for children of LGBTQ+ people will be taking place just outside of Reading, PA this August, reports Cherri Gregg for CBS Philly.
Camp Highlight was founded in 2010 during the height of legal battles over same-sex marriage and has grown from 12 campers to now over 65.
The goal of the camp is to give kids who have parents that are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender the opportunity to meet others children from families like theirs.
Registration is now open at $999 per student. Financial aid scholarships are available. The camp runs from Sunday, August 13th to Sunday, August 20th.
Campers will have an impressive selection of over 40 daily activities to choose from, including archery, swimming, fishing, writing, and traditional sports.
The camp will take place at a WMCA facility in Wernersville, Berks County.
