This coming Thursday, April 20th, 2017, nearly 200 restaurants and food trucks across Southeastern Pennsylvanian and Delaware will participate in the annual Dining Out for Life fundraiser.
Treat yourself or take your friends, families, and loved ones out to a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner for an important cause!
Click here for a complete searchable list of local participating restaurants, including how much of the daily proceeds will be donated (in most cases, 33%). Alternatively, just check out this handy map! Reservations are encouraged but not required.
Founded in 1991 by an Action Wellness volunteer in Philadelphia, the event has since spread nationwide; in 2016, over 3,000 restaurants participated, raising $4.19 million for HIV/AIDS services.
According to their website, Dining Out for Life’s various HIV/AIDS service organizations have provided care to 1 out of every 10 people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States.
In 2014-15, it is estimated they provided life-saving services to a total of over 125,000 people, with other services reaching an additional 270,000. An estimated 2,000,000 meals were served to food-insecure people with HIV/AIDS and their families.
All money raised will stay amongst local AIDs initiatives. Some regional beneficiaries include Action Wellness (Formerly ActionAIDS), AIDS Delaware, Family & Community Service of Delaware County, Planned Parenthood Association of Bucks County, and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania (PPSEPA).
Can’t dine out but still in the giving spirit? That’s okay, just text DINE to 50155 now through May 30th and you will be guided through a simple, quick donation process!
