Congregation Kol Ami in Elkins Park, PA and J.Proud Jewish Philly LGBTQ Consortium, a program of Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia, are excited to present “Kindness Counts בּ: Beyond the Gender Boxes, Embracing Transgender and Non-Binary Jews and Allies In the Mishkan” on Sunday, November 13th from 1PM to 5:30PM.
“It’s going to be a really rich afternoon of learning and dialogue that will help individuals and organizational representatives (largely synagogue lay and professional leaders) become more inclusive of trans and non-binary people,” shares Jane Tausig.
The schedule includes a variety of workshops and activities, offering a rich day of learning and dialogue about inclusion for Jewish community members of all ages, from teenagers to elders.
The workshops are mitzvot (commandments) and midot (values) informed, covering many areas of inclusion that will appeal to teens, allies, clergy, educators, synagogue professionals and lay leaders.
Outside synagogues are encouraged to attend this event, along with their leadership teams, so they might work towards furthering inclusion in their own synagogue communities.
Attendees will be invited to a an opening panel discussion, then be asked to attend two workshop presentations and come back together for a closing event.
