In 2011, when Joe Sielski and Tony Catka recognized that many of their friends needed a venue for socializing, but weren’t interested in going to the regular gay bars, they decided to create something new. The duo teamed up to establish Our Night Out Wilmington.
Similar to the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund’s Our Night Out (ONO) in Philadelphia and the one-year-old Our Night Out – Phoenixville, run by William Davidson, Our Night Out Wilmington rotates event venues throughout the region. Past venues have included Kid Sheellens, Toscana, Earnest and Scott, and 8th & Union Kitchen.
Restaurants are more than willing to offer light refreshments and venue space in exchange for a cash bar and additional menu options for purchase.
Our Night Out Wilmington hosts their gatherings on the third Thursday of the month, starting at 6:00 PM. This month, the group will celebrate their sixth anniversary at Piccolina Toscana, located at 1412 N Dupont St, Wilmington, DE 19806.
While the Our Night Out events in Philadelphia offer an open and inclusive space for business networking, the ONO Wilmington group is primarily focused on providing an open and inclusive space for socializing with local LGBT community members, although business networking is always encouraged.
